I have always been very suspicious of the commercial cloud services offered by Google, Apple, Microsoft and co. so I decides to set up my very own cloud service on my very own server here at my own home. I tried out a few out-of-the-box solutions and ended up with Nextcloud. Nextcloud offer seamless integration on almost all devices, from you laptop to your mobile phone, and is very stable and secure.
The service is avaliable for to all who would like to backup their data to a cloud that is reachable from anywhere with an internet access, is absolutely private and the data is not shared with anyone nor used to enhance any other services at all. To log into the service just click on the button below.
If you would like to find out more about what you can do with Nextcloud please visit the official Nextcloud site at nextcloud.com
My cloud services also offers a communication tool called Talk with which members of the group (in this case the family) can make calls, video meetings and share content. Basically it could be used instead of all the available social media apps for your mobiles or instead of Teams or Zoom on your computers. The nice thing is, it is all within the closed system of my cloud service, no Big Brother, no uncertain servers in the USA, and all behind a safe and secure infrastructure here in Hamburg.
When you log into the cloud you can see Talk in the menu on the upper left side of the page. Do look into it, there are apps for both Android and iOS available for download. It is an essential part of my effort to distance myself from commercial apps and American multies.
Do look into it, you might find it useful. A click on the button below will direct you the the Nextcloud Talk site.
